Such a stunning place to stay- exceptionally stylish. Very very helpful hosts. Very quiet. Great collection of books to browse. Terrific housekeeping, spotless. We have returned many times. Easily the best place to stay in Lewes. There is parking for guests- a huge bonus as parking is Lewes is very difficult
Tips:We loved having breakfast and getting food for our Glyndebourne picnic at The Flint Owl Bakery across the High Street. Southover Gardens have wonderful trees and the nearby Anne of Cleves house is very interesting. Lewes itself is full of charm.

Wonderfully hospitable reception from the owner, who could not be more obliging. Lovely accommodation, well equipped and we even had orange juice, beers and milk left in out fridge for us. We could not recommend highly enough.
Tips:Perfect location for those visiting Glyndebourne. Lewes is a bustling yet tranquil town, full of history, with all the shopping and other facilities one might need on a short stay.

Great location on Main High Street in the beautiful town of Lewes. Parking is a real bonus, if the access is a bit tight (our Juke fit but I’m not sure anything much bigger would) We had the basement apartment which was spacious and lovely. Our only concern was that the layout means it’s difficult to secure yourselves in as the rest of the building has access to the stairs down to the basement. You can lock the bedroom door once you’re in, but this issue of privacy/security was an issue for my wife. Very stylish apartment Would we stay here again - absolutely.
Tips:Lewes has many restaurants and pubs and quirky antique shops to wander. A park run was also a bonus at Malling Rec

1st July 2024:
Really lovely. We had the lower apartment which was really nice and cosy. Although it is on the High Street in Lewes, there was no external noise at all and there is a lovely little garden area too. It has it's own parking space too, but we didn't need that. The owner was aavailable should we have needed any assistance (we didn't) and there was even a welcome drink in the fridge along with milk, juice, tea coffer etc. Really lovely.
Tips:Right in the heart of the Town and so close to shops, restaurants, cafes, public transport. We arrived by train and the Railway station is just 10 minutes walk. Ideal location.

Tips:5 minutes walk from the station, in the heart of town. Lots of pubs and eateries nearby. Easy access to the coast by train with very regular services.

We stayed in the left room which is stunningly elegant and well-equipped. The only drawback is that there are no blinds on the window facing the street and, although there are wooden shutters, because it was a very windy night they blew open and kept banging in the early hours so I had to get up to close them again. Also, because the room is at the front of the house, lorries turning into the High Street in the early hours also woke me up, although my wife slept through! I think if we come again we would opt for the courtyard room!

A very warm, friendly welcome! The accommodation is great: bright, beautifully equipped and a wonderful base from which to explore Lewes and Sussex in general. Vicky couldn’t have made us more welcome and offered good advice about where to eat and what to see.
Tips:Lewes is a lovely town, with terrific independent shops and cafes and restaurants, including Fork and the Depot, by the station. A lovely place to stay. Loads of unexpected luxury treats. Helpful and friendly hosts. Brilliant views of a gorgeous garden and surrounding area. Bath, bed, shower room...all great. Stairs with luggage are a challenge but well worth the effort. Nothing negative to say except I wish I'd had the time to investigate all those lovely books
Tips:We know Lewes from previous visits and were mainly visiting this time to see relatives. However loads of good places to eat and drink. Just didn't get the chance this time. Royal Oaks fish and chips our first evening was excellent though

Tips:We were only there for a short time, and to go to Glyndebourne. The town was wonderfully old fashioned and unusual without the usual High Street shops. I received instructions on how to access the property by text as the owners were away; everything we needed to know was given in the text and all went smoothly. The text explained that the accommodation was at the very top of the building and, from previous experience on our trip, I visualised being in the roof space, banging my head – I couldn’t have been more wrong. The room was very spacious and immaculately appointed – everything from the sheets to the towels to the kitchen implements was to the highest standard we have experienced, probably anywhere, ever. The accommodation and bathroom was spotlessly clean; it was very comfortable and very quiet. The let was on an accommodation-only basis but the owners had left some goodies in the fridge for breakfast and relaxation, which were much appreciated. The location is ideal for exploring Lewes – unfortunately, we had only booked one night as a break to our journey; we should definitely have made it a longer stay – but we hope to return one day and we won’t even consider anywhere else but Montys.
Tips:Parking is up a small passageway close to the property – this is very easy to miss (we did) so be alert.

Parking at the rear which is accessed via A fairly narrow passage. Parking is safe and secure. If you wish to travel by train it’s literally a 10 minute walk from the train station.
Tips:There is a lovely bakery just up the High Street-Flint owl which sells lovely pastries as well as filled rolls/quiche which is super for packed lunches.

Lovely room, thoughtfully decorated.Would recommend to travellers younger than us. We are fit 70 year olds but found lugging suitcases up 3 floors of narrow staircase hard. Doors & cupboards a bit hard to open. Parking space small approached by narrow passage so wouldn’t recommend for big car.Otherwise excellent central position in Lewes.
Tips:We visit Glyndebourne opera regularly & have enjoyed walks in the surrounding countryside.

This was our second stay at Montys. We think the accommodation is super. It just feels luxurious. We like being able to park our car there. It is also right in the centre of Lewes and near the train station. We're already planning another trip in the Spring.
Tips:Montys is really well located, being close both to the bright lights of Brighton and the South Downs. We walked The Seven Sisters this time. Lewes itself is just such a nice place with a wide array of restaurants. We also have a favourite coffee shop already. (Coffee Roasters)

We loved the accommodation. Have given 5* on the 4 points above. What was really special is the artist touch; with beautiful books, tea cups, cutlery and other special finishing touches. Vicky was very welcoming and willing to help in any way she can. Would love to go back.
Tips:We loved the local bakery Bake Out for morning croissants and lunchtime bagels. We visited the castle and walked along the river. Drove to Cuckmere Haven only 30mins away for a walk in astounding scenery.

A completely stunning place. The top floor room was outstanding. Stylish, beautiful and ever so comfortable. Generous FREE hospitality goodies including fresh seasonal fruit and yoghurt, gorgeous homemade granola and even a local beer and a gin and tonic! Shower room is exquisite. Clarins and Liz Earle products! Hello?!!! That’s very unusual! Beautiful roll-top bath in the room. The most comfortable bed ever and the same comfort found on the chair and chaise. Beautiful bookcase/display shelves with a multitude of interesting books. Cushions on the floor for those moments of chilled reading in the afternoon. Kitchenette had everything one needs to prepare snacks and drinks. Coffee machine was fab! Lots of pods provided too…also very unusual to see such generosity. Vicky (host) is simply wonderful! The welcome was so warm and kind. We loved her!!!!! This place is very special indeed and we can’t wait to return.
Tips:Cafe du Jardin was amazing for lunch. Cote Brasserie was very good and staff there were fabulous. Needle maker’s is always lovely for breakfast/coffee/lunch and good shops in there too.

A thoroughly delightful and characterful place to stay in the very heart of this lovely Sussex town. The bed, the free-standing bath, the kitchenette, the "library" in the room and all up the staircase and so many other unique features make this a very special place indeed.
Tips:Don's miss this if you are coming to Lewes. It has charm, style and elegance, at the same time as being totally grounded. My son described Lewes ands a cross between the style and buildings of an old town like Farnham, touched with the bohemian influence of Brighton and he was quite right.

An easy walk from the station and despite being in the centre of Lewes, a very peaceful night and stay. Our room was most comfortable and well organised with an ensuite shower, gorgeous soft duvet and pillows etc. Lovely treats in the self catering kitchenette plus a healthy breakfast of fresh berries, yoghurt and homemade muesli or granola...mmmm..Our hospitable host also showed us the other rooms and Monty's top floor is worth paying the tiny extra for something rather special.
Tips:We did a lovely walk from Firle below the Downs to a charming tea room and a separate walk directly from Lewes across the Downs to Glyne and discovered another great venue for snack lunch and teas.

Vicky greeted us and made us feel so welcome, the house is gorgeous and we stayed in the loft, just our style and wonderfully sumptious with lovely finishing touches and great views. Absolutley wonderful thanks so much we will be back:)
Tips:We stayed in the loft, from the moment we arrived we were treated with warmth and care. Wonderful room, so well designed, all needs catered for. Wonderful coffee machine, so many little touches but wont go into that, go and see for yourself. We always eat at Le magasin, in the high street, delicious but there are lots of restuarants in the back streets towards the station. Enjoy
